Ed's PCs
Support

A computer shop, run by someone who only ever wanted to run one.

Ed's PCs has been trading for 30 years. The Victoria Point workshop has been open for 20 of them, and the same owner has been behind the counter for 18. We're independent, we're local, and we're still here.

What we actually do

Most of it is repair — computers, laptops, phones, tablets, consoles and the occasional thing nobody else would take on. Both stores have full technical workshops with Microsoft and Intel certified technicians, and we hold an extensive range of parts in stock so the majority of jobs don't sit waiting on an order.

The rest is the stuff that surprises people. We run a laser engraver, so we do security marking and personalisation. We convert old VHS, camcorder tapes and film reels to digital before they degrade past saving. We print ID and membership cards. We clean corroded circuit boards ultrasonically and bring back equipment that looked finished. We write insurance reports. And we build gaming PCs to a standard that takes considerably longer than throwing parts in a case.

None of that was findable on our old website, which is a large part of why this one exists.

The two workshops

Both fully equipped, both staffed by technicians. The person you hand your device to is the person who works on it.

How we work

You get a price before we start

Every job begins with a diagnosis, and nothing goes further without your say-so. If additional parts or labour turn out to be needed, you hear about it first.

We'll tell you not to bother

If a machine isn't worth repairing, we say so. The diagnosis exists so you can decide on real information — and if replacing is the better spend, we move your data across.

Nobody builds until they're trained

Custom machines are built by Brett or by someone he's trained and signed off. That's a deliberate rule, and it's why they all look the same regardless of who assembled them.

Parts are held in stock

An extensive range at both stores, so most repairs don't wait on an order. Specialty parts are typically two to three days.

Loan phones while you wait

If a phone repair has to stay with us overnight, we'll lend you a smartphone so you're not cut off.

Remote support when you can't get in

A lot of software problems can be sorted over the internet without you leaving the house, from $39.

Who we look after

Customers come to us from across the Redlands and the bay islands — Victoria Point, Alexandra Hills, Birkdale, Capalaba, Cleveland, Mount Cotton, Ormiston, Redland Bay, Sheldon, Thorneside, Thornlands, Wellington Point, Amity Point, Coochiemudlo Island, Dunwich, Karragarra Island, Lamb Island, Macleay Island, North Stradbroke Island, Point Lookout and Russell Island.

If you're coming across on the ferry, ring ahead on 1300 0 EDS PCS and we'll make sure the right parts are here before you make the trip.

Ed's PCs elsewhere

Independently owned Ed's PCs stores outside the Redlands — different owners, same name.
