Tempered Glass Costs Less Than a Screen

We recommend a tempered glass protector on every phone and tablet we repair, and we'll say so every time. A protector is a fraction of what a screen costs, and it's the only thing standing between the two. Take $10 off one with any repair — not just a screen replacement.

What we fit

  • Proper tempered glass, and only the best quality we can buy. It's the whole point of the exercise — cheap glass is barely better than film.
  • UV-glued tempered glass for curved screens. Where the display curves over the edge, that's the only way to get a real bond all the way to the sides instead of a protector that lifts at the corners.
  • UV-glued, tablet and privacy protectors are $39.99 — $29.99 with a repair. Ask us for the plain flat-glass phone ones; the price depends on the model.

What we don't

  • Plastic film. It stops scratches. It does very little about a drop.
  • The sheets cut to size on the spot. A cutting machine and a roll of film covers every model ever made without stocking a single protector — which is convenient, but you're still walking out with plastic, and usually not a cheap one.

The entire idea is that the glass breaks instead of your screen. We've lost count of the cracked screens that came in still wearing a plastic protector — it held the pieces together, which is not the same as stopping the damage.

Our favourite five seconds of the week: someone walks in flat, certain they've smashed it again. We peel the shattered protector off, and there's a perfect screen underneath. Then we get to remind them we talked them into it last time.
