Meter not moving? Nine times out of ten the wrong microphone is selected, a laptop function key has hardware-muted it, or Windows itself is blocking it — that last one lives in Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone, and it overrides the browser entirely. The line above says which microphone we're actually listening to, which usually settles it. If it's genuinely dead — we fix those.
